About

Hello, everyone! My name is Mikhail and I’d like to welcome you to my website.

I was born and raised in Angarsk, Russia (Google Image Search Link), a town located in Eastern Siberia just 100 km away from Lake Baikal. Nowadays, I’m living in the Portland/Vancouver area.

I have a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication which I completed with a 3.97 Grade Point Average in May 2019. I studied at WSU’s Edward R Murrow College of Communication Global Campus.

On my website, you’ll find my writing and projects which focus on strategic and responsible advertising, public relations, corporate communication, crisis, and communication management. I’ve published some of my works on these topics and you can find them listed on the Portfolio Index page.

I’m currently working as a prepress coordinator and graphic designer at the Ricoh-operated corporate print center for Kroger/Fred Meyer Corporate headquarters in Portland, OR. I work with a team of dedicated professionals to provide top-notch support for our clients.

In 2020, I started volunteering as a member of the Equity Advisory Committee for the Evergreen Public School in Vancouver, WA. As a committee member, I contribute to developing a district equity plan, reviewing equity audit results, and advising the district’s Equity Leadership Team on how to identify and eliminate systems, policies, procedures, and practices that create inequities among students and staff.

I’m deeply committed to the cause of social justice and social equity, especially given the significant inequities I’ve noticed between people in our society today. That’s why I’m also interested in strategic communication leadership which promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion through communication management.

One of my early social marketing experiences was when I participated in a WSU Vancouver DTC Program classroom project to uplift digital communication for a local homeless family shelter in 2010. Later, from 2012 to 2014, I was an investing partner in a project that employed US Veterans, their families, and caregivers. I served as a technology officer, providing solutions for social media, web design, training, and technology support. I also participated in company research for court reporting and litigation support industry technology.

In 2014, I volunteered my services to produce an annual report for a local non-profit mental health and substance treatment organization. I created an animal rights movement brand in 2018 to promote animal rights and support awareness of animal cruelty and unsustainable practices.

In 2017, I developed a mock campaign called “Foster Washington” to raise awareness about foster care in Washington State. The tagline for this campaign was “Not every family has a kid, but every kid needs a family.” My goal was to demonstrate one way to increase awareness and improve the Foster Care system of the State of Washington.

In 2019, two of my capstone projects focused on the social marketing theme in support of human and animal rights. Under the topic of Social Change: Awareness of Social Issues in Society, I conducted a three-part professional marketing communication and management campaign for each section of the topic. A section on animal rights and a section on human rights.

In the first section of my capstone project, I presented market test sessions on the topic of animal rights campaigns. In the second section, I performed a market test session on the topic of “family is a family,” a human rights campaign that focused on LGBTQ families with children. Finally, I provided conclusions of my findings on communication with the target audience, focus group transcripts, and offered options for possible solutions to promote positive behavioral change in society.

My professional goal is to work in the fields of communication, advertising, public relations, and/or corporate communication, and to contribute to progressive ideals and reduce poverty, violence, greed, racism, and class conflict. I hope to achieve this by getting involved with an organization that aims to increase the social good of the world from an ethical and humane perspective.

I am still exploring my path and I invite you to join me on this journey. I am eager to realize my full potential and make a positive impact on society!
